The chapter library includes about 15,000 volumes – that is about the equivalent of 460 linear metres of historical book art.

The printed books include over 450 so-called “incunables” – also known as cradle books – in other words, books from the early period of book printing.

The the inventory of the chapter library can be researched in various ways:

>> The index of the printed books from the 16th and 17th century VD16 and VD17

>> The Union Catalogue of Incunabula Database

>> British library, incunabula short title catalogue

Printed Catalogue:

Föhl, Hildegard / Benger, Anita: Katalog der Stiftsbibliothek Xanten (Die Kirche des hl. Viktor zu Xanten, Bd. 5), Kevelaer 1986.
