Chapter Archive

The largest part of the Xanten Chapter Archive are the deeds and files of the former St. Victor’s chapter.

Beyond this, there is the noteworthy stock consisting of  "Archdeaconry and Provostry Xanten" as well as the smaller collections "Jesuit residence Xanten", "Monastery Fürstenberg" and "Municipality Xanten"

The records of the 19th and 20th centuries relate to the St. Victor Xanten Parish and the Xanten Deanship.

About 150 manuscripts from the chapter and from various monasteries are also a part of the chapter archive. These include liturgical manuscripts as well as secular ones, for example an interesting universal chronicle dating back to the 15th century. If desired, the manuscripts can be used for scientific or research-related purposes in the reference library.
